You don't even see it, they don't say anything and you still don't know when it spawned! Meanwhile, the chest spawns on the opposite side of the map to you, someone else stumbles on it and opens it without saying anything. So you roll around on your beetle doing laps around all the possible spawn locations. Lets say you have no idea when the chest last spawned but you ask in chat anyway and get no reply (because so few people recognize it as being related to a set of achievements). The chest has a respawn timer, I think somewhere between 15 to 30 minutes from when it was last opened.
